Although, if you want to experience the trip with all your senses, what you have to do is follow a bumpy dirt road (a car is required) from the village of Kaliviani and continue on foot from the parking lot for 2 kms. You will then be astounded by the magic that will be unveiled before your eyes, when you look at the out-of-this-world, almost lunar landscape of Ballos.
FAIRY TALE MEETS DREAM-Every year, in the beginning of June, just before sunrise in the morning mist, around Frangokastello appear black-clad human-like shadows with swords and helmets, which head, on horse or on foot, close to the castle.
