Our meeting point of the excursion is set outside the elemmentary school of Kroustas at the far end of the village at 09.00 a.m.
From there we will head at the area named “Tourkisses” in the heart of the forest of Krousta.
Together we will wander through the historical and natural forest of Krousta, where we will follow the ancient Minoan trails to reach our first destination, which is Fortezza.
Along the way, we will cross the path that leads to the valley of Korakia, exploring the flora and fauna of the area. There, we will also explore the old lodgings of the area, walking through stunning old oak trees, grand pine trees and lush maple trees. At the same time, we will be informed about the historicity of the area, passing through the ancient Minoan buildings, the old farmyards and the modern lodges (called metohia).
Our final destination will be Aki’s metohi (lodge) at the forest’s heart where we will taste local Cretan dishes while we enjoy the view and Cretan hospitality at it’s best.
After a few hours, we will take the road back, full of new experiences, fresh air and amazing flavors.
