The Historical and Folklore Museum of Rethymno is housed in a 17th century Venetian mansion.
The History and Folklore Museum Rethymno was founded in 1974 for the purpose of research and gathering historical and folk material of Crete and especially of Rethymno prefecture.
The collections of the Museum are derived from donations and purchases and include more than 5,000 objects.
The Museum still has room for educational programs, lectures, cultural events, equipped with modern audiovisual media.
The permanent exhibition of the museum contains woven, costumes, embroidery, lace – thread compositions, ceramics, baskets, traditional agricultural tools, machining, tools traditional professions – knife maker, grommet, reseller, shoemaker.
The canyon of Imvros is located at the prefecture of Chania, close to Sfakia .Spectacular, and with narrow passages, the canyon comprises of rocky formations. The wild flora is intense, ruling everywhere, with trees exploding literally out of rocks and stone.
