The Polygyros Archaeological Museum houses exhibits from all over Chalkidiki. In the museum’s spaces, it holds three permanent exhibitions: one with findings from the most important archaeological sites of the prefecture, one with findings from the three colonies of Andros in Chalkidiki, Stageira, Akanthos and Sani, as well as the exhibition of the Lambropoulos Collection.
The Museum of the History of the Greek Costume is a museum with a vestiary content. In its collection one can find 25.000 objects, especially costumes and jewellery of the historic greek area, copies of Minoan, archaic and byzantine costumes, as well as 23 porcelane dolls dressed in traditional outfits.
The Byzantine museum is located northeast of the Acropolis (Its-Kaleh) of the castle of Ioannina. It is a two storey building, on the ground floor of which the main exhibition is housed, comprising of findings (sculptures, coins, ceramics, pictures, bema doors, gospels) from the 4th to the 19th century.
The Piraeus Archaeological Museum offers the visitor a complete image of the city’s history, which was marked by great sevelopment during the ancient times, both as a commercial center of the eastern Mediterranean, and also as a naval base of ancient Athens.
