The Polygyros Archaeological Museum houses exhibits from all over Chalkidiki. In the museum’s spaces, it holds three permanent exhibitions: one with findings from the most important archaeological sites of the prefecture, one with findings from the three colonies of Andros in Chalkidiki, Stageira, Akanthos and Sani, as well as the exhibition of the Lambropoulos Collection.
Agios Nikolaos is the capital of the Lasithi prefecture, and is situated on the west side of the Mirabello gulf. Its name came from the small church that is located in Agios Nikolaos’ bay.
The Asclepium was since the ancient times the most famous monument of Kos. It was located close to the ancient city, and was full of marvelous statues, works of famous artists.
The Archaeological Museum St. Nicholas was founded in 1970 with a view to report findings from Eastern Crete.
